Discovery Week: find where AI genuinely fits in your council
A one-to-two-week consulting engagement, run with the council, to review the current state, shortlist the AI use cases that matter, set measured baselines and hand you a scoped pilot case, inside council operations and across the wider community you serve.
How Discovery Week works
Short, measured and on site. Nothing to buy just to take part.
Current-state review
We look at how work is actually done today, on your staff's own material, where they already work.
Shortlist and baselines
Use cases are shortlisted on evidence rather than assumption, and real tasks are timed so there is a baseline to measure against.
A scoped pilot case
You leave with a documented case that a council report or competitive process needs anyway.
Why start with discovery
Clarity before spend, evidence before scale, and defined exit points. Stopping at the end of any step is a legitimate outcome that still leaves you with usable work. Discovery uses the free Copilot tools your council likely already has access to.
Not sure you're ready?
Take the free readiness check first. It takes a couple of minutes and gives you a score and a recommended next step.
Discovery Week questions
How long does Discovery Week take?
Discovery runs one to two weeks, depending on scope.
What do we get at the end?
A current-state review, a use-case shortlist, measured baselines and a scoped pilot case. Every pilot times real tasks before and after, so the number that funds the next stage is real, not estimated.
What does it cost?
Pricing depends on scope, travel and on-site days, and is quoted up front. Regional travel costs are lower where neighbouring councils cluster engagements in the same window. Ask for a briefing and we will talk you through it.
Will we need a tender?
Discovery is deliberately sized to sit under the quotation threshold in most Queensland council procurement policies, so it can usually proceed on quotes rather than a tender. The scoped case you get also supports any later competitive process or council report.
Do we have to commit to a pilot afterwards?
No. Each step is designed so you can stop at the end of it and still have something worth having.
Can our own staff run the discovery instead?
Yes. Week Session Simple teaches the same method on site, so your staff produce the pilot case themselves and keep the templates. It runs as five full days or a three-short-day Sprint for up to five people.
Does it cover the community as well as council operations?
Yes. We scope where AI genuinely fits inside council operations and across the wider community and local trade businesses the council serves.
Do we need new software?
No. We use the free Copilot tools your council likely already has access to.
